Many are the tools that change consciousness and perhaps the most important of all, for antiquity, for universality, was the use of psychoactive plants:in every part of the world are widespread plants and mushrooms whose consumption produces visions, hallucinations and deep different emotional states.On all continents have existed – and continue to exist – cultures that use these plants to transcend ordinary reality.The human race immediately used them;“immediately” in the sense of “without mediation”:there was no need for particular elaborations to accept them, because they were “food”, something to enter into the body to live.This biological inheritance, without distinction of race or people, does not need any particular explanations about its usefulness:these substances stimulate the mind, and man has learned in the fundamental struggle for survival that with the only hands, the only legs, the only body, cannot win:it can only with the mind, with the consciousness.
